![]() ![]() One point that goes too far however is that 50% of the game-modes are elimination games, meaning you don’t respawn when killed. You also can’t just select what weapons you want, you have to buy each weapon with the money you earned by making kills, if you don’t have any money, then it’s the starting pistol for you. You don’t have a fancy aiming-mode for one thing, so no Red Dot sight or Holographic sight to make shooting easier for you. Unlike some of the other games in the genre (Call of Duty, Battlefield and etc.), this game stands out for been very unforgiving. The only reason to play this game is for the fun of logging in and shooting a few lads before logging off again, there is literally nothing plot-wise to keep you interested in the action you are partaking in.ĭespite what my review might be suggesting so far, CS:GO is far from a conventional shooter. Admittedly most of these aren’t too spectacular and a lot of game-designers seem to have a grudge against Russia lately, but not having any plot at all removes the context from a game, thus leaving the player without a reason to care about the conflict. There are plenty of online FPS-games, but almost all of them have a single-player mode that serves to explain the overhanging plot. I have nothing against simplicity, but Counter-strike really puts in too little effort. There is very little story surrounding the details of this conflict, but I suppose a tale about terrorists trying to plant bombs writes itself. The series is built around a very simple goal: Terrorists kill police-officers & police-officers kill terrorists. Online games are always lacking due to lag.Ĭounter-strike: Global Offensive is the latest entry in a series of online first-person shooters. The weapon system is similar to Arms Race where newer and better guns become available gradually. Killing an enemy yields him the next weapon on the list and the game ends when the player makes a kill with the last weapon on the list (a knife).Ĭlassic Casual: the terrorist teams needs to either plant a bomb or guard a number of hostages while the counter-terrorists try to free hostages and defuse the bomb.Ĭlassic Competitive: same as regular Classic mode, but the player will have to buy all his equipment and not just the guns he wants.ĭemolition: similar to the Classic mode but on a much smaller map with usually just one specific area to focus on. The game modes include:* Arms Race: the player can't choose weapons, but starts out with a basic one. It is also the first game in the series to be available on a PlayStation platform. It is the fourth main game in the Counter-Strike series and features many gameplay elements and maps from Counter-Strike: Source and earlier versions, but with an improved visual style. Aside from playing online, the player can also decide to play an offline game with AI-controlled bots or go through a weapons course. If you die, then you will lose the equipment you bought in the next round. Money can be used to purchase new weapons and equipment at the start of each round. The teams are then awarded with money and the next round starts. A round ends when all the members on a team are dead or if a team completes their goal. The two groups then fight it out in a number of rounds. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is an online first-person shooter in which the player joins up with either a group of terrorists or the counter-terrorists (SWAT). ![]()
